Hey! It's been a busy old week here at CASTLE33 HQ. Productivity at maximum which is great. So, here's this week's 5-Bullet Friday:
A little self promotion here. Our blog over at Craft Digital has been shortlisted for the Irish Blog Awards this year. Covers everything food and drink wise that's happening in Ireland. Go give it a look, you might discover something delicious! Click here.
This week I got back into using the Headspace app after a little bit of a hiatus. If you haven't heard of it, it's an app that provides guided meditation sessions and mindfulness training. I'm a big fan of the founder Andy Puddicombe who always shares so great tips and advice on Twitter. I'd highly recommend trying it if you want to destress, cut down your anxiety or simply improve your meditation techniques. It's super easy to get into and caters to every level.
Last night I visited Token for the second time this month. It's a fantastic little retro arcade bar/restaurant in Dublin city centre. There are over 32 arcade machines, 22 beer taps and a delicious food menu for all tastes - vegan, vegetarian and carnivore: wagyu burgers, vegan calamari, bacon battered Reese’s Cups, extremely hot chicken and chilli fries. Believe me, it's damn tasty. If you're around town definitely hit it up!
I've been asked to speak at WordCamp Dublin this year which I'm really excited about. WordCamps are casual, locally-organised, not-for-profit conferences covering everything related to WordPress. It's taking place in DCU Business School, Dublin on October 14th-15th and I'd love to see you there if you can make it. My talk is entitled "How Social Media is helping destigmatise mental health in Ireland". I feel that while there's always discussion on how social media (our constant need for "Likes" and the consumption of superficial celebrity lives) is damaging to us - I want to take a different approach and highlight how much progress is being made to destigmatise mental health in Ireland by both our own actions and those of organisations across online channels. I plan to focus on social media campaigns run by businesses & charities, the increase in mental health blogging by young people, the open sharing of emotions and discussions on mental health issues, and how all of this is actively helping individuals across the country. Hope to see you there!
The new Foo Fighters album just dropped today. Here's one of the tracks..
