Hello and welcome back to another 5-Bullet Friday post. Here are 5 things I'd like to share with you today:
Bill Gates (yes, my good friend the billionaire) shared an infographic on Twitter earlier in the week highlighting how much life has improved over the last two centuries. When it seems that every day there's more bad news and that the world is getting worse and worse, it's an important reminder of the fact that we're living in the best conditions that humanity ever has, and we definitely need to appreciate it more.
The Instituto Terra, an ambitious initiative started in the late 1990s by renowned Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado and his wife Lélia Deluiz Wanick Salgado, has now seen over 2.7 million trees planted in the Minas Gerais region of Brazil. The mammoth project has planted saplings of more than 290 species of trees and has seen the return of many species of birds, mammals, amphibians, reptiles, and insects. You can read more about it here.
Using innovative techniques and real-life props, VFX company Scandinava makes live imagery seem as if it were CGI. Pretty impressive stuff. Check out their showreel below.
“Your mind will take the shape of what you frequently hold in thought, for the human spirit is coloured by such impressions.” - Marcus Aurelius
This man needs no introduction. Enjoy.
